Using a P-card to Purchase Software Licenses

Purchasing Services is pleased to announce that online training for the purchase of certain software licenses using a P-card is now available.

Definitions

Certain software (typically a one-time purchase) is defined as shrink-wrap, click-wrap, click-to-accept software and services, and business-related apps.  Please note that a software purchase that requires a signed Software License Agreement is NOT considered certain Software and is therefore not eligible to be purchased with a P-card.

Training

Developed by Purchasing Services and Financial Information Systems (FIS), the training will inform the P-card holder about

  • the uniqueness of certain software license purchases,
  • when and how the p-card can be used to make software license purchases,
  • the process involved, and
  • how to maintain the appropriate documentation.

This training is available for all P-card holders (see registration information below) and can be completed at your convenience.  Upon successful completion of the course and submission of the request form, your P-card will be opened for the purchase of certain software licenses.

Registration and Questions

To register for the online training course, please contact Cathy Lewis, FIS, at clewis@cfo.pitt.edu.  For questions regarding the training, please contact Gary Hussar at gah24@pitt.edu.
