Full technical and functional support for the PRISM System will end at 5:00 PM on Thursday, December 23, 2010 and resume at 8:00 AM on Tuesday, January 4, 2011.  Limited PRISM System support will be available during the Winter Recess according to the following schedule:

In order to facilitate the processes which begin the closing of FY10 and the opening of FY11 within the PRISM System, it will be necessary to take the system off-line according to the schedule below.

Please exit the system prior to 5:30 PM on Wednesday and do not attempt to re-enter until after 6:00 AM on Thursday, July 1, 2010.  Your access will be terminated without notice at 5:30 PM Wednesday and all processes (printing, faxing, reporting, data entry, etc.) must be completed and saved prior to that time. Any data not saved or processes that are not completed by 5:30 PM Wednesday will be lost.

 

REMINDER:

Additional Setup Required for SUN Java Version 6 Updates 18, 19, 20

Since the initial PRISM conversion to the SUN Java Plug-in, later versions of the plug-in have been released.  PRISM requires a minimum of version 6 update 7.  However if you are using version 6 update 18, 19 or 20, additional setups are required for PRISM.  Please see the Additional User Access Links section for details.

Single Sign-On Enabled via the University's Portal

Beginning December 14, 2009, the PRISM system will be integrated with the University’s Portal (my.pitt.edu).  With this latest enhancement, users will no longer need to maintain a separate PRISM password.  PRISM will utilize the University Computing Account username and password. 

 

In preparation for PRISM Single Sign-On, please visit  http://accounts.pitt.edu/ to log into your University Computing Account and setup security questions in order to enable the Self-Service Password Reset Service if you have not already done so.  Password change information can also be found at http://technology.pitt.edu/email-accounts/manage/passwords.html.

 

As a reminder, the University e-mail address is used for all official correspondence through electronic mail.  If you are currently receiving e-mail at a different address, it is important to forward your University e-mail to that address.  Instructions for forwarding your University e-mail can be found at http://technology.pitt.edu/email-accounts/email/imap/imap-forward.html.

PRISM System Outage:  October 9-12

In order to install new hardware for the PRISM system, it will be necessary to take the system off-line according to the schedule below.

The new hardware will not change any of the current PRISM functionality.

 

In order to retain PRISM printing capabilities via RPM (Remote Print Manager) after the hardware upgrade, port 515 must be opened for communication from the new PRISM servers.  Please refer to the PRISM Printing Prerequisites document at http://www.bc.pitt.edu/prism/docs/printprereq.pdf for detailed information.

PRISM PCard Opened for Airfare Charges

Effective April 27, all PCards will have the capability to purchase airline tickets for University business travel.  If the PCard account defaults to a subcode other than 6300, a redistribution of charges must be completed in PRISM.

 

Please refer to PCard Redistribution FAQ on the PRISM website for specific directions on redistributing airfare charges - - www.bc.pitt.edu/prism, FAQ, PCard Redistribution FAQ.  You can also refer to the updated PCard Redistribution training manual on the PRISM website.  Click on the following links: Training, Course Manuals, PCard Redistribution.  Specific directions for redistributing airfare are in Chapter 3, pages 23-24.  Samples of PCard Redistribution reports specific to airfare transactions can be found in Chapter 4.

PRISM FAX Server Outage: December 12

The PRISM Fax Server will be unavailable beginning at 7:00 AM on Friday, December 12, 2008 for maintenance purposes.  Once the service is restored, an e-mail notice will be sent to the PRISM users.

 

 

On Friday December 12, the FPOR850 Print Custom PO report will not fax PRISM purchase orders.  This is the only functionality in the PRISM System affected.  Purchase Orders can be created, modified, saved and approved during this period.

 

If you require a faxed purchase order during this time, please contact the Technology Help Desk at 412-624-4357.  Purchase Orders created and approved during the outage can be faxed after the maintenance is completed.

New Sun Java Plug-in to Replace Oracle J-Initiator

On September 12, 2008, the PRISM system will be upgraded to utilize the Sun Java Plug-in (Version 6 Update 7) in place of the Oracle J-Initiator.  This new plug-in is certified with Microsoft's Vista operating system, as well as Microsoft's XP operating system.  The certified browser for both operating systems is Internet Explorer 7.

It is recommended that the Sun Java Plug-in is installed before PRISM is available on September 13.  Please click here for instructions to install the Sun Java Plug-in from the Internet.

PRISM System Outage: August 29-30

In order to facilitate the processing of salary increases for FY09 within the PRISM System, it will be necessary to take the system off-line according to the schedule below.

From:  5:00 PM, Friday, August 29, 2008

To:  12:00 PM, Saturday, August 30, 2008

Please exit the system prior to 5:00 PM and do not attempt to re-enter until after 12:00 PM on Saturday, August 30, 2008.  Your access will be terminated without notice at 5:00 PM on Friday and all processes (printing, faxing, reporting, data entry, etc.) must be completed and saved prior to that time. Any data not saved or processes that are not completed by 5:00 PM Friday will be lost.

E-Mail Notifications Enabled

Beginning October 1, 2007, e-mail notifications will be enabled for the PRISM system.  The PRISM system notifications will be sent to each user’s University of Pittsburgh e-mail address (username@pitt.edu).  The University e-mail address is used for all official correspondence through electronic mail.  If you are currently receiving e-mail at a different address, it is important to forward your University e-mail to that address.  To forward your University e-mail, visit  Accounts Management.  Please click here for detailed instructions on forwarding University e-mail.

Notifications currently in the PRISM Worklist will also be sent to your University e-mail. FYI notifications, such as “Standard Purchase Order has been approved”, will be automatically closed once an e-mail is successfully sent.  Notifications requiring a response, such as “Standard Purchase Order requires your approval”, will remain in the Worklist until appropriate action is taken. PRISM FAX Server Outage

Facilties Management has scheduled a chilled water HVAC outage for the Cathedral of Learning this evening. In preparation for this outage, it is necessary to take the PRISM FAX Server off-line according to the schedule below.

During this time, the FPOR850 Print Custom PO report will not fax PRISM purchase orders.  This is the only functionality in the PRISM System affected by the HVAC outage.  Purchase Orders can be created, modified, saved and approved during this maintenance period.
