Office Furniture University-wide Contracted Suppliers

 

We’re excited to announce the successful completion of a formal office furniture request for proposals resulting in new contracts with three University-wide Contracted Suppliers for the category. The three contracts include two incumbents, Franklin Interiors and Workscape Inc., as well as a new supplier, burkeMICHAEL+. Both Workscape and burkeMICHAEL+ are women-owned diversity suppliers and we are pleased to continue to support supplier diversity initiatives at the University.

All three contracted suppliers will have a PantherExpress System punchout. The two incumbents, Franklin Interiors and Workscape, have had the new contract terms applied to their existing punchouts. We will send a notification about the burkeMICHAEL+ enablement when we are closer to the punchout’s availability.

Most projects should be initiated with Facilities Management, following departmental procedures, before a purchase is made through the PantherExpress System to ensure that they meet policy and procedural guidelines. Many times, even a simple furniture purchase can result in impacts to building infrastructure systems (Electrical, Mechanical, A/C, etc.) as well as code impacts (Fire/Egress, disability accessibility compliance, etc.) Information about working with Facilities Management can be found on the Request a Service page of their website.

We strive to be mindful of the University environment and this RFP process was undertaken with consideration of the Capital Plan and expected needed growth in furniture purchases over the next several years.

For this RFP process we worked with a cross-functional team including members from Facilities Management and the Office of the Provost, as well as our Purchasing and Strategic Sourcing departments. We also sought input from Housing, Athletics, and the Schools of Health Sciences and are very grateful for the input of our stakeholders in this process.
